BRIAN J. SHAW
ABOUT
BRIAN SHAW is a New York City-based woodwind doubler, music director, symphonic and choral conductor, and tenor. He has played in the orchestras for several tour, regional, community, and high school productions throughout his 14 years in New York City.
In addition to playing in pit orchestras, Brian has been a member the Queer Urban Orchestra since its inaugural Season in 2009. He is currently the General Manager of the orchestra and remains an active playing member.
Brian has also done several musical theatre orchestrations/reductions, including Pippin and Into The Woods.
Vocally, Brian has sung in many readings and cabarets and was a lead in the Off-Off Broadway production of the original musical Love Quirks, for which he also recorded an original cast album.
Prior to moving to New York, Brian was a featured vocal and instrumental soloist with the St. Patrick Catholic Church choir in Miami Beach, FL, and a member of the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus. He also music directed several productions with the University of Miami’s student-run theatre organization, QuantUM Entertainment.
Brian is a product of the Ledyard High School Music Department, in Ledyard, CT, and a graduate of the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he studied voice and theatre. As a child, he studied Alto Saxophone and Oboe with members of the United States Coast Guard Band in New London, CT.
